- Create a raster file by scanning the paper drawing using a scanner. Scans can be from A4 to A0 in colour, black and white or greyscale, from 100 dpi to 600 dpi.
- Convert the raster image to a vector DXF file.
- Import the DXF file into a CAD program then retrace so that there is no jaggedness, loss of detail to generate a DWG file.
- These drawings can be viewed and edited in AutoCAD, GIS, Microstation, and most other computer-aided drafting products.
